Hold That Pen

This past week. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf stole a win from high school sports when an attempt to override his veto of a “Let Them Play” Bill.  The legislation would have let school districts determine capacity for sporting events.

The next battle may be over a bill to allow restaurants to reopen at %50 of capacity, so long as social distancing and mask wearing guidelines are followed.

I see an override of this veto as likely.  This legislation may have more bipartisan support, both rural and urban areas have restaurants and bars, and the restaurant industry in one that may contribute to many Democrats as well as Republicans.

A better option would be sit on the bill and allow it to become law without a signature.  This would put the onus on the restaurants to protect their patrons.  If a spreading event could be traced to some rural dive or urban eatery, the Governor could say that the industry though they could police themselves.
